Find the Right CPCS Course for Your Career

Our course range covers different stages of a construction and lifting operations career. Some candidates come to us knowing the CPCS code they need, while others know they want to work as a traffic marshaller, slinger/signaller, crane supervisor, Appointed Person or crawler crane operator but need help understanding the qualification route.

Understand Your CPCS Career Progression

The right course depends on the work you currently do, the experience you already have and the level of responsibility you want to reach.

A typical lifting operations pathway may begin with A73 Traffic Marshaller, progress into A40a Slinger/Signaller, and later move towards A62 Crane Supervisor or A61 Appointed Person responsibilities. A02 Crawler Crane Operations provides a separate specialist operator pathway, while relevant NVQs support longer-term CPCS card progression.

This does not mean every candidate must complete each category in the same order. Your experience, existing cards, prerequisite tests and intended role all matter, so we recommend speaking with us if you are unsure which route applies to you.

Why Candidates Choose Vanguard CT

We understand that choosing a construction course is not simply about finding a course code. Candidates also need to understand whether the qualification is right for their role, what they need before training and how the course fits into their longer-term career.

  • Specialist Knowledge: Our strongest area of expertise is lifting operations and plant-related training, including marshalling, slinging, crane supervision, lift planning and crawler crane operation.

  • Practical & Theory Training: Our approach combines the theoretical understanding required for the qualification with practical training relevant to the role.

  • Flexible Scheduling: Weekday and weekend course options help self-employed workers and busy candidates find training dates that better fit around site work.

  • Candidate Guidance: We help candidates who are unsure which course, prerequisite or CPCS progression route applies to them.

  • NVQ Progression: Candidates can return to us for relevant NVQ assessment as they move from initial CPCS training towards competence-based progression.

  • Reasonable Adjustments: Contact us directly to discuss any reasonable adjustments or additional support you may need during your training or assessment.
